En el Perú se conmemora el 10 de noviembre, fecha declarada oficialmente como Día Mundial de la Ciencia para la Paz y el Desarrollo por las Naciones Unidas.
La relevancia de esta fecha se debe al desarrollo que brinda al país, desde el conocimiento científico, la labor de investigación y otras herramientas que le han permitido al Perú avanzar en muchos aspectos como sociedad. En la siguiente nota, te contamos más detalles.

El Día de la Ciencia y Tecnología fue la fecha propuesta en la Conferencia Nacional de la Unesco en honor al natalicio del científico argentino Bernardo Houssay.
Houssay fue el primer argentino y latinoamericano en ser galardonado con el Premio Nobel de Medicina en 1947. Ganó este gran distintivo por sus investigaciones en Fisiología y Medicina, concretamente sobre el rol de la hipófisis o glándula pituitaria en la regulación de la cantidad de azúcar en sangre a través del metabolismo de los hidratos de carbono.

Houssay también creó el CONICET en 1958 y fue su primer presidente. En 1972, la Organización de Estados Americanos creó el Premio Houssay en su honor y se empleó para galardonar a los mejores investigadores científicos de nuestro continente.
